Emerging Artist Intelligence
The artists
shaping
what comes next.
The perfect moment — before everyone else sees it.
KAIROS is the research division of SMI Advisors. We track, document, and index the emerging artists defining the next decade of contemporary art — and surface the signal before the market reprices it. The record before the record exists.

The Moment to Move
The Thesis
The contemporary art market is one of the last major asset classes operating without systematized early-stage intelligence. Decisions still ride on relationships, instinct, and press cycles that lag the real market by months — sometimes years.
"The most interesting artists of this generation are already here. They're just not yet indexed."
The most established art market index covers roughly two thousand canonized artists. KAIROS is built for the artists who aren't yet on that list — and for the collectors, advisors, and institutions who want to recognize them first.
Every record is append-only. Gallery credit is permanent: the presenting gallery is recorded as the first presenting gallery, regardless of any later representation changes. The historical fact of the discovery does not change.
Trajectory Archetypes
Not a score alone.
A reading of the shape.
Stage 1
Pre-Consensus
Conviction-stage. Early curatorial signal forming ahead of market recognition — the artists the record is built to catch first.
Stage 2
Curatorial Validation
Institutional and curatorial alignment is accumulating. The case is being made by the people whose judgment the market eventually follows.
Stage 3
Transitional Momentum
The signal is crossing from curatorial into market. Representation deepens, prices begin to reprice, attention compounds.
Stage 4
Established Trajectory
The trajectory is legible to everyone. KAIROS documents the path that led here — and turns to who comes next.
The Methodology
Five signals.
One reading.

Institutional
Early-stage curatorial alignment — museum attention, biennial and institutional inclusion, curator conviction ahead of the market.

Gallery
Strengthening program alignment — the quality and trajectory of representation, and the permanence of first-presenting credit.

Collector
A selective base with long-hold intent. Who is acquiring, how they hold, and what that signals about conviction versus momentum.
Scores are editorial, not generated. The methodology informs judgment; it does not replace it — and the framework is permitted to say it does not yet know.
